Hi, just a couple of things,

I keep getting stopped for " driving suspiciously " or " breathalyser tests " or a better one being " brake light is out " the point im trying to get to you is, last week i was stopped 3 times in the one day ( bilston, glasgow, innerleithen ) but i can usually put money on once a week , why dont the police record this on their computer, cause this usually proceeds into a full scale fault check with my car, surely if they noted it down on a computer it would mean next time im stopped ie same day same week, i dont have to gothrough all the stuff with car being checked?? ( this is irratating as i know my car is safe, mechanic)

also is it illegal to go onto the motorway without a spare wheel ( asking this as glasgow police asked to see my spare wheel wheni got stopped)

i had a weight issue with a van and took your advice and went to loanhead ( alexander inglis) to get van weighed, they told me their weigh bridge is not public and the calibration is not accurate enough and refused weigh for me, so i stopped some lorry driver and asked him, he said nearest one was up by the airport, he also stated the police cannot use loanhead weighbridge because it is most defonitely not public and they must use a public one.

i really need to check weight of van so please help, should i just risk it , and then say i couldnt get weighed at loanhead or is this lorry driver talking $hite , and they couldnt be bothered weighing the van ( most probable i think ) as it was lunch time

thanks guys

I can't really speak for the company at Loanhead, but can confirm that i did use it for enforcement purposes some years ago and the matter did proceed to court, resulting in a conviction. It may be that they have changed their policy since then.

If you really want to check the weight of your van, you could contact VOSA at Livingston as follows:

Livingston GVTS, Grange Road, Houston Industrial Estate, Livingston, EH54 5DE

Tel: 01506 445200

They will keep you right and could arrange to weigh the van for you.

Unfortunately there is no means of recording the number of times a vehicles is stopped as you suggest.

It's not illegal to drive anywhere without a spare wheel.
