An X Box 360 vs PS3 Poll??
No matter the result, the PS3 pisses all over the 360. Forza is amazing fair enough, but nah!
I'd rather dust off my Mega Drive and play Mortal Kombat than get a 360.

I can't believe this has actually turned into a Poll!
Personally i'm not on mine for long periods of time normally, but i can see the addictiveness of Modern Warfare 2 (i spent a long period playing World At War when it came out)

Something that has interested me about the PS3 network is the avatar world feature. Whats that all about? I seen it on a tech channel, apparently you can wander about in a virtual reality enviroment thats like a real world, even buying stuff from online stores, hanging out in VR bar and even doing other stuff like going to a VR cinema.
One of my mates girlfriend went on it and got followed about all night by loads of male members getting asked such things like 'do you take it up the arse' and 'wanna cyber.' pmsl Now that has potential. :lol: 8)
PS3 all day long.. its the complete package, It comes ready to go on the internet, it's already wireless, has bluetooth, plays Blu-ray discs, Comes with multiple features on the home screen, BBC Iplayer, Media Player, Video Player, Picture Gallery, t'internet browser, Playstation Store, then you have the Playstation Home Halesy was taling about thats like a VR Home,
With the Xbox you have to pay to go online, you have to pay to go wireless, IIRC you have to pay to get Blu-Rays to play, you have to pay to get a rechargeable BATTERY pack, the Base model doesnt even come with a harddrive, Every Extra you can think of costs you EXTRA money
Playstation May be overpriced to some but In terms of value for money it's the best out there, and no matter what anyone says, Microsoft built the Xbox to make money... Sony Built the PS3 with the intention of making it one of the best consoles out there, the technology used int he PS3 is so far advanced that they Claim the PS3 wont be superseeded by another Sony console for at least 5 to 10 years,
And we havent even seen the best the playstation can produce yet, Gran Turismo 5 is being tipped as the start oif the PS3 revolution, With such intense graphics and gameplay never even seen on any Platform, paving the way for other games to top that mark, You cant really Slate either of them graphics wise cos at the moment they are both VERY similar and it's hard to tell whats better,
As for the Xbox.. I like it.. but i wouldn't sell my playstation if i had to chose one of the two,

quite interested to read that Sony make a loss on every PS3 sold so when it comes round to the PS4, there is speculation that they wont include a blu-ray player next time round as thats the reason they cost so much in the first place.
but then as technology advances, blu-ray players will likely come down in price.
also by sales the PS3 sits 3rd behind Xbox and the Wii so it would seem logical that the Xbox is more popular.
and also as it stands, neither of the two have any plans to bring out a new console.
heres my simple out put on both consoles
ps3 - is an entertainment based console with the blu ray player, i player and all the rest of the stuff etc etc
xbox360 - is a gamers based console, yeah it has the sky player, film rental etc but these are all stuff added at a later date to what is basicly purely all about the gaming!
also by sales the PS3 sits 3rd behind Xbox and the Wii so it would seem logical that the Xbox is more popular.

Wii and Xbox have been on the market longer and both have versions at the £130 mark, The PS3 isn't a bare shell and will cost you £250, sometmes folk just see the price, going by sales isnt exactly accurate though
I would never have paid £130 for my 360, thats why when i got offered one under £100 i thought why not, it didnt feel as bad when the money exchanged hands ;)

Owned a Ps3 and loved it, although for some strange reason i decided that i'd go for a Nintendo Wii and due to space restrictions i had to offload the Ps3. What a mistake.
Nearly a year after selling my Ps3 i have since sold my Wii and only a few days ago purchased the Xbox Elite. So far so good. It is hard to pick a fav mainly because there are alot of good things about both consoles it's not as easy to decide. The XBOX i have found is quite noisy in comparison to the Ps3, when you have a disk in and playing a game the noise is pretty loud whereas the Ps3 was always quieter.
Whilst you pay to use the online gaming on XBOX, the ease of use and general online gaming experience is a million times better than the Playstation. I just cannot get over how good the online gaming is on the XBOX.
Because i have picked pros and cons out of both i am still undecided. If there was an option for "Both as good as each other in their own way" then i would pick that. I cannot pick a favourite.

That makes for some interesting reading, it shows that in some ways the ps3 is better like the free net advantage but doesn't compete as well as the 360 in other aspects.
On the other hand it still shows that the 360 domiantes and is outright the better console, sure we have to pay for live but what we get for that price is just superior in the ps network in every way. We get party chat for a start and that means upto 8 friends can chat with each other no matter what game each friend is playing or if they are on the dashboard. You may have bbc iplayer but we are just beginning to get sky on the xbox and no doubt that service will improve in the coming months.
I also don't buy into this sony are making a loss on each console sold, its my understanding that unless sony is a charity then as a business they need to be out to make money. The PS3 is still far more expensive than even the 360 elite with its 120GB hard drive and even including the price of a £9.99 battery charge kit and a years subscription to xbox live, the 360 is still the cheaper option.
Other things you can do with the 360 seems better than the ps3, it can link the console to a pc, its photo viewer feature is a lot better and it has a lot more quality games than its ps3 rival. As for member profiles, the 360 still has more to offer. We can view achievements, recent games played, view what our friends have been upto and even see what freinds of friends have been playing. On the 360 you do not have to quit the game you are playing to do this either, this can be done by calling up a seperate menu and this can even be done in the middle of any game, online or offline.
On the negative side only the noise that the console makes lets its down and of course it doesn't support blu-ray however on the xbox marketplace we can watch 1080p quality movies in an instant without the need for downloading using live's on demand system.
So i'm still more than happy with my 360, I have to top end elite and i'm happy in the knowledge that its still less expensive than the lowest end PS3 nevermind its top end rival.

More than likely true, that report was from 2 years ago.
On your second point, there was talk of allowing the servers to cross (not sure if its via the developers own servers or what) so that Xbox and PS3 gamers could play each other or with each other. That would be good if it did happen like. 8)

no, the xbox doesnt have internet at all (as in browser).
i dont mind that as if i want to go on the net i have my computer.

theres nothing out there yet to test the PS3's capability though, as Said GT5 is the closest we'll see to using most of the PS3's resources in the next year or so,
the Xbox cant get any better gaming wise unless you upgrade parts, theres already rumours of Microsoft releasing a new Xbox in 2011
1UP is reporting that it's hearing a new Xbox 360 is in the works and is set to be released next fall in conjunction with the release of Project Natal. That in itself isn't all that newsworthy since it seems pretty logical that Microsoft would put out a new console with the release of its fancy new, you-are-the-controller technology that was demonstrated at E3 this month. However, 1UP is saying that while the new Xbox 360 will carry a new name and be a "new platform," it won't necessarily be much of an upgrade over the existing 360.
Here's the full quote:
"It's not clear what sort of upgrades we might see, but some have suggested it will be a slight upgrade of the current Xbox 360 technology. Current Xbox 360 games would be playable on it, but future games would be able to take advantage of the added muscle."
The article also adds that, "Games played on the more advanced Xbox would look or perform better, but publishers will still be able to support owners of both systems."
Again, this all makes sense, and you'd expect Microsoft (and possibly Sony) to have some new hardware a year from now. But it will interesting to see how Microsoft manages gamers' expectations and the sales of its consoles as it gets closer to releasing Project Natal. It's also important to note that Microsoft has said the new technology will work with existing Xbox 360s so long as you add the new video camera accessory.

Can't see that happening because they wouldn't be shooting themselves in the foot, they would be chainsawing both of their legs off! They jointly created the Blu-Ray so I'm sure they will stick with it! They only way that would happen is if they went completley digital i.e. over the internet.

Just have a look at Uncharted 2: Among Thieves! Possibly the best looking game ever made, its a brilliant game and really shows off what the PS3 can do. Anyone with a PS3 who hasn't played the Uncharted games... have a word!
This debate will never end. IMO the PS3 is miles better than the 360. Microsoft rushed to get the 360 out before the PS3 to get an advantage so failed prepare for the future. All of their add-ons (like wireless, HD DVD drive) are afterthoughts.
Sony on the other hand prepared and did it properly and are now starting to see the benifits. The main reason that Sony's Blu-Ray demolished Microsoft's favoured HD-DVD was because it came with the PS3! It would have been no where near as popular if it wasn't included and its because of that that Blu-Ray defeated the HD-DVD in just over a year!
I've got a lot I could say but really can't be bothered typing it all, so I'm just gonna say that, imo, the PS3 is a much better console and you get better money for value. It has a lot more variety of games and Sony make a lot more different/new games than the Microsoft. Sony took the leap with Singstar, Buzz, EyePet, LittleBigPlanet, Playstation Home and the soon to come Heavy Rain and ModNation Racers.
IMO, there is no argument that the PS3 is a MUCH better entertainment package than the Xbox 360, but I believe it is now a better games console than it as well, with a lot more exclusive games coming out for it in the past year and a half and onwards.
your correct about Uncharted 2, it does show what the playstation can do, its not my type of game but i have seen it played, it is phenomenal but even at that, it still isnt using the full capabilities of the the PS3

If they removed the Blu-Ray player, how would you play the games?! Go back to DVD? I think not! all of the current PS3 games are on Blu-Ray Disc!!
As I said, they would surely keep the Blu-Ray player in the PS4 unless they make a new sort of storage disk or (as seems the future is going) look to digital distribution. Tbh, digital distribution is a very highly likely possibility because Sony released the PSP GO recently which utilizes digital distribution - they have completely got rid of the UMD drive on it.
As for them making a loss, I'm pretty sure they still are even with the new smaller PS3 being released. But they have cut down 70% of their cost to make the PS3 since it was launched. They are making their money from software sales, the PSP and PS2 (surprisingly it is still going strong, especially in Japan). There may be somewhere else they're making money too?

The Xbox is false economy when you compare prices, yes it might be cheaper to buy off the shelf but in the long run it's more expensive to keep

i realy disagree with your pricing comparison...
i bought my xbox, 60GB edition for £140 with everything i needed (hdmi cables etc.), i have it hardwired as to be honest wireless connection is shit in comparrison, i wouldnt have mine wireless at all.
so i got online with my box for under £180, i couldnt even buy a PS3 for that!
i havent had to buy anything extra for my xbox, i use rechargable batteries for my controller so no battery pack costs either.
and i agree, i dont see either manufacturer bringing a new console out anytime soon as there is currently no need for them, both consoles are very good in todays market but you just know that both maufacturers are already toying with new ideas and will be as long as the companies are there.
at the end of the day, both consoles are good, both have good points and bad points and there will always be arguements over whats best but sales figures are all that matter to the maker and in that respect the xbox owns!

the xbox wins because its cheaper!!! thats like sayin a fiesta is better than a dodge viper because its cheaper and more people own 1, i dont think any console owner could ever be convinced that the other is better, but the whole point of owning 1 is to play games and both do that very well any thing extra is a bonus, if 1 is better than the other its just a matter of opinion and preference me i choose ps3

I have both machines and I think the PS3 is the much better machine in a lot of aspects.

I haven't went on to speak about the overheating as both consoles basically experience this. Nightmare, however the more technology you throw into a machine the more problems that it will experience. That is a fact.
You will find that the majority of games (major releases) you find on the xbox you can get on the PS3 or Wii. So people that turn around and say that there isn't any games for "x" console are lying or they are walking around blind.
The Xbox is cheaper, however it isn't sporting the latest and greatest in HD playability for movies. Blu ray is just starting to come down in price (buy one of these players in asda now for under 100 bucks) and you will see that will reflect shortly on the playstation 3.
Also if you add up all the amount of gold memberships you have to purchase throughout the lifecycle of the xbox360 you will find that your total cost of your xbox will be more expensive than a playstation3.
For example;
Xbox Elite = £200
2 x 1 year gold membership = £80
Total £280
Price for a Playstation3 plus 2 years of PSN = £ 250

I support the playstation throughout as even when the console is replaced with a superior model they still put the games in the previous formats. For example PS2. I dont see this happening with the xbox.
The main reason that Sony's Blu-Ray demolished Microsoft's favoured HD-DVD was because it came with the PS3! It would have been no where near as popular if it wasn't included and its because of that that Blu-Ray defeated the HD-DVD in just over a year!
That isn't the main reason at all.
This goes back to the old days of VHS v BetaMAX. There was always going to be a winner on this one. The reason for blu ray winning was the same reason why everyone got VHS players at the end of the day.

the xbox wins because its cheaper!!! thats like sayin a fiesta is better than a dodge viper because its cheaper and more people own 1, i dont think any console owner could ever be convinced that the other is better, but the whole point of owning 1 is to play games and both do that very well any thing extra is a bonus, if 1 is better than the other its just a matter of opinion and preference me i choose ps3

I never mentioned backwards compatable. I know that xbox 360 is backwards compatable
I am stating that even though the PS2 and xbox are at end of life. They are still bringing out new games for the PS2.

i realy disagree with your pricing comparison...
i bought my xbox, 60GB edition for £140 with everything i needed (hdmi cables etc.), i have it hardwired as to be honest wireless connection is shit in comparrison, i wouldnt have mine wireless at all.
so i got online with my box for under £180, i couldnt even buy a PS3 for that!
i havent had to buy anything extra for my xbox, i use rechargable batteries for my controller so no battery pack costs either.
and i agree, i dont see either manufacturer bringing a new console out anytime soon as there is currently no need for them, both consoles are very good in todays market but you just know that both maufacturers are already toying with new ideas and will be as long as the companies are there.
at the end of the day, both consoles are good, both have good points and bad points and there will always be arguements over whats best but sales figures are all that matter to the maker and in that respect the xbox owns!
