well jumping red lights is agenst the law but why do cops get away with it all the time.Seen a cop van at ocean t edging forward to see if it was clear then went throw A RED LIGHT without blue lights or sirens going rules off some and diff off others

Police officers are afforded exemptions in relation to some road traffic laws and compliance with red traffic signals is one of them. Obviously, it would be normal to have blue lights and sirens activated, but it is often necessary to adopt a 'silent approach'. The police driver is accountable for his/her actions if there is an accident, so has to use best judgement in taking this course of action. I appreciate that it doesn't look good or sets a good example, but we're not in a position to stop and explain to bystanders why we are doing what we are doing. If your car was being broken into and the arrival of a police vehicle could be heard three streets away, scaring off the culprits, I'm sure you would think we could have done a better job than that.
