Hiya, a couple of days ago i hit a very large pothole (infact it was the whole width of the road) and now my wheels/suspension needs major work. you may know the one i'm talking about, its outside the new sainsburys just off the western approach road? i was only doing 30mph, probably not even as it was in rush hour traffic. anyway, my dad says i should take pictures and report it to the council, and also ask yourseleves for advice. could i claim for th council for the damage? or the company who dug it up and havent retarred it? any info would be good thanks.

My understanding is that provided the council have already been notified of the road defect or have recorded it themselves, then subsequent claims in respect of damage to motor vehicles tend to be more likely to be settled. I would certainly be taking photgraphs of the defect and the damage to your car in case the pothole is filled in between your incident and you making a claim.
