I have a work collegue who posesses a southern Ireland Driving licence. He currently resides in Edinburgh renting a flat.
He was recently caught running a red light and received a NIP to which he replyed enclosing his driving licence and a cheque for the fine.
He received back his driving licence and the cheque with a letter saying they could not process the cheque of licence but that he could apply for a GB licence and to let them know and send the licence to receive the points.
He then contacted the office by phone to inform them he was not prepared to apply for a UK licence as he would be returning home in the near future but was still prepared to pay the fine.
After this he received a letter saying the case was going to the proculater fiscal if he did not pay the £60 fine within 28days.
He has now received a futher request asking for his licence and £60 fine.
What should he do next?? He is still willing to pay the fine but unwilling to apply for a UK licence as this extra cost would not be justified.
