Hi

I know that if a car doesn't have an MOT that you are only allowed to drive it to/from the place of MOT or repair if it has been pre-booked. And that you must drive there direct and even stopping for the paper is not classed as direct.

But my question is would it be considered OK if the reason you stopped on route to the MOT station was to put some fuel in the car and that is all you purchased when you stopped?

I suppose if the petrol station was en-route and did not involve a detour from the quickest route, then this may be an exemption. There is nothing i can find in the legislation which mentions such stops, so i suppose it would come down to the officers opinion if you were stopped and the view of the court.
